Publication Ethics
Complaints and Appeals Procedure
The Editorial Board of the journal "Materials Working by Pressure" is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards and responding promptly to any inquiries. The complaints procedure is developed in accordance with COPE recommendations and aims to resolve conflicts constructively.
- Subject of Complaint: Complaints may relate to:
- Ethical violations (plagiarism, data falsification, ghost authorship).
- Peer review bias or editorial conflicts of interest.
- Copyright infringement.
- Undue delays in manuscript processing.
- Submission Procedure:
- Complaints must be submitted in writing to the official editorial email: [Olena.Katiukha@ddma.edu.ua].
- The appeal must clearly state the nature of the problem, providing facts and evidence where available.
- Investigation Process:
- The Editorial Board acknowledges receipt of the complaint within 3–5 business days.
- For ethical violations, the Editor-in-Chief may establish an ad hoc committee of Editorial Board members who have no conflict of interest in the matter.
- The author or person accused is given the opportunity to provide explanations.
- Decision Making:
- The Editorial Board reaches a decision based on an objective analysis of the facts.
- The outcome (complaint acceptance, rejection, or necessary actions like article retraction) is communicated to the complainant within 30 days of receipt.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Following international guidelines for scientific publishing:
- AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) cannot be listed as authors of a manuscript.
- If AI was used in the production of the work (data analysis, image generation, or translation), authors must explicitly disclose this in the "Methods" or "Acknowledgments" section.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the content generated or edited by AI.
Retraction Policy
The journal follows the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
- An article may be retracted if there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable (due to misconduct or honest error), if it constitutes plagiarism, or if it reports unethical research.
- A formal "Retraction Note" will be published, and the electronic PDF of the article will be watermarked as "RETRACTED" but remain accessible to maintain transparency.
Publication Ethics and Prevention of Malpractice
The Editorial Board adheres to the ethical standards adopted by the international scientific community:
- Authors' Duties: Authors guarantee that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and contains no plagiarism.
- Editors' Duties: Decisions to publish are based solely on scientific merit, regardless of the authors' race, gender, or political views.
- Reviewers' Duties: Peer review must be conducted objectively. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Compliance with COPE, WAME, and DORA Principles
The Editorial Board of "Materials Working by Pressure" is guided by international standards and supports key global initiatives:
- COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics): We fully share the principles of transparency and best practices in scientific editing.
- WAME (World Association of Medical Editors): We apply universal standards of editorial independence and peer review policy.
- DORA (San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment): We advocate for evaluating the scientific quality of each individual article rather than relying on journal impact factors alone.
- Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI): We provide immediate free access to scientific content to promote global knowledge exchange.
